NKorea seeks to reopen embassy in Australia, which calls it a chance to discuss human rights


Continuing evidence of Image First Politics (though I also think the regime would like to get department 39 into Australia under diplomatic cover to conduct its illegal trafficking operations in order to provide another source of hard currency and luxury goods for the elite – but I think the Australian security services will have something to say about that and it will be interesting to see how such operations play out).

SYDNEY — Australia’s government says North Korea is seeking to reopen its embassy in the nation’s capital.
Foreign Minister Bob Carr said Wednesday that he has welcomed the request by Pyongyang. Carr told Australian Broadcasting Corp. it would give Australia the opportunity to express its concerns about what it views as North Korea’s “catastrophic position on human rights.”

North Korea closed its embassy in Canberra in 2008, citing financial reasons.
