New Chinese leadership to strengthen economic ties with S. Korea, political relations to be challenged by N. Korea: experts

This is a Chinese dilemma.  Perhaps their policy should be described as the "Three No's and One Yes"  To north Korea:  No War, No  Collapse, and No Nukes.  To South Korea:  Yes to Trade and economic exchange!

There is should be more than a little irony here. China is responsible for north Korea (being allies) for the last 60 years and the US has been an alliance partner with the ROK for the last 60+ years and we can see how the two countries have evolved.  But the irony is that in many ways South Korea is more important and more beneficial to China than the north ever has been or will be.

New Chinese leadership to strengthen economic ties with S. Korea, political relations to be challenged by N. Korea: experts
SEOUL, Nov. 8 (Yonhap) -- The incoming leadership of China, led by soon-to-be-president Xi Jinping, is expected to strengthen economic ties with South Korea, but political relations between Beijing and Seoul may be challenged by their conflicting interests over North Korea, experts said Thursday.

China's ruling Communist Party opened a week-long congress that will allow incumbent President Hun Jintao to transfer power to his appointed heir and current Vice President Xi.

Experts said Xi has been keen to maintain good ties with the South, while all the likely members of the new political bureau standing committee, the core power group, have paid visits to South Korea. The makeup of the standing committee can be interpreted as a sign the next administration is likely to fuel cooperation with Seoul.
